Have you ever wondered how shingles are fixed during a roof repair? In this video, Corey Sitowski of Country Family Homestead will explain how to repair the shingles on a roof. It’s a lot easier than you think it would be! You can save money by doing this simple repair yourself.

The first thing you do is remove the old, broken shingles along with the nails.

Start at the bottom and work your way up. You’ll want to lay a bead of roofing tar on the edge of the new shingle to seal it in place. Keep in mind that the outdoor temperature can affect how tacky the tar can get. Once you have the shingles stuck in place with the tar, you can reinforce the hold by nailing them down. You may find the job easier to do with an extra hand to lift the shingles while you use both hands to apply the tar. As you are up on a roof, it will just make sense to use the buddy system for safety purposes anyway.

As you can see, there are a few steps that go into fixing shingles during a roof repair. Ensure that the process is done right by hiring a professional.
